1. Overview

The ABB TC520 thermocouple temperature input module is an industrial multi-channel temperature measurement card independently developed by ABB for DCS distributed control systems. As the core temperature signal acquisition component inside the automation control cabinet, it supports signal input of multiple standard types of industrial thermocouples, converts tiny thermal potential temperature signals into standardized digital signals, and uploads accurate temperature data to DCS host, PLC and monitoring touch screens.

This temperature sensor module is widely installed in chemical reaction kettle control cabinets, metallurgical heating furnace monitoring racks, power plant boiler pipeline control rooms, food pharmaceutical constant temperature production lines and sewage treatment heating equipment control boxes. It realizes real-time temperature curve recording, high/low temperature alarm and automatic temperature closed-loop adjustment, avoiding production safety accidents caused by abnormal temperature of process equipment.

Multi-Channel Simultaneous Temperature Acquisition

The module reserves multiple independent thermocouple signal input channels, which can collect temperature data of multiple furnace bodies, pipelines and reaction equipment at the same time, reducing the number of single-point temperature acquisition cards inside the cabinet and simplifying cabinet wiring layout.

Built-in Automatic Cold Junction Compensation

Equipped with high-precision cold junction compensation circuit, it automatically calibrates the measurement error caused by the change of cabinet ambient temperature, ensuring the long-term stable measurement accuracy of thermocouple signals without manual regular calibration.

Strong Electromagnetic Interference Suppression Performance

Multi-layer shielding and signal isolation design for each input channel, which can effectively filter electromagnetic clutter generated by surrounding high-power motors and frequency converters, avoiding temperature data distortion and false temperature alarm of the control system.

4 .Structure and Composition

The ABB TC520 thermocouple temperature input module adopts an integrated standard rack card industrial structure, which is composed of multi-channel thermocouple signal input terminals, cold junction compensation sensing unit, signal amplification and conversion circuit, digital data processing chip, multi-layer EMI shielding layer and flame-retardant card frame housing.

Each thermocouple input channel is equipped with an independent signal isolation circuit to avoid signal crosstalk between different temperature measuring points. The built-in cold junction compensation sensor detects the internal temperature of the cabinet in real time to automatically offset the temperature measurement error of the thermocouple. After the weak thermal potential signal is amplified and converted into a digital signal by the internal circuit, the standardized temperature data is transmitted to the DCS main control unit through the backplane bus of the cabinet. The flame-retardant sealed card frame prevents dust and moisture from eroding internal precision circuits and prolongs the service life of the module.
